  • What is the objective of the game?
The objective of the players is to make the highest returns on their portfolio. Player's portfolios are measured against other players in real time for each game; at the end of that game, the winners are those who have the highest returns relative to the other participants. The leading Traders can win cash prizes.

  • How do I buy and sell shares/stocks?
On the trading screen, search and select a particular stock/company you want to trade, enter the quantity you want to buy/sell. Enter the limit price and place the order.

  • How do I start playing this game? On what basis can I choose the preferred share to go for? What prior knowledge is required before playing the stock trading game?
Moneypot is a simulation of real-time stock trading engines, except for small delay in prices and involvement of no actual money. It provides a good learning platform for retail investors who are new to the stock markets. You benefit from the experiences you gain without risking actual money.

So, you can start trading as per your knowledge and understanding of stocks and progress to win games and earn rewards. Latest stories and tips from other players and experts may be taken as advice.

  • How much virtual money do I get while playing a game?
For each game, the virtual money available will be specified alongside the game.

  • Can I trade international stocks?
Not at the moment, but the game will soon provide the ability to trade in International stock markets.

  • What are bonus shares? What do the terms cum bonus and ex bonus mean?
A bonus share is a free share of stock given to current shareholders in a company, based upon the number of shares that the shareholder already owns. While the issue of bonus shares increases the total number of shares issued and owned, it does not increase the value of the company.

A share is described as cum bonus when the purchaser is entitled for current bonus. On the contrary, a share is described as Ex Bonus when the buyer is not entitled for the Bonus. The seller remains the beneficiary.

  • How and when are Bonus Shares credited into my account?
Currently, bonus shares are not being handled automatically, but will be included into the system soon. Moneypot shall handle it manually till automated process gets implemented. Whenever occurs, please notify us the bonus on your holdings through MP Chat or mail us at customercare@moneypot.in.

  • What is short selling?
Short selling allows you to make money on a particular stock whose price is falling.

The standard process of "going long" involves buying first and selling last, at a higher price to make profits.

Short selling is the same concept of buying low and selling high, but in the reverse order. You borrow some stock from your brokerage and immediately sell it on the market. After the stock drops in price you must buy some shares from the market and return them to your brokerage. It sounds complicated at first, but it is really almost as easy as "going long."

Short selling has risks associated. There is the risk of losing more than 100% of your money. Although some consider it morally incorrect to bet against a company, short selling is successfully used every day by thousands of traders. It is actually a healthy part of the markets. For example, when the markets are having a bad day, who is buying the shares that most people are trying to get rid of? Short sellers are, along with the "longs" who are trying to buy at bargain prices. They are trying to cover their shorted positions and take a profit.

  • Why am I not able to short sell?
Short selling feature is available on Moneypot. If you are not able to short sale, please check if you have enough cash in hand to maintain the margin for short cover. The short margin value may vary from game to game. You can check your cash book of each game for more details.

  • What is stop loss?
An order with a stop loss is one placed with a 'trigger price'. It is placed to minimise the losses and the order can be either for a purchase or a sale.

  • How do I put a stop loss here at Moneypot?
Moneypot does not support stop loss facility at the moment. We are working on it and this will be implemented very soon.

  • What is profit booking? How do I book profits?
Making profit by selling a share which has gone above its purchase price is called as booking your profit. When shares, which you hold, as an investor, go up in price, you have made only a national profit, which is meaningless, except in a dry run portfolio. Only when you actually sell them will you make any tangible profit.

  • Why do my orders show as pending at times?
Orders placed when the markets are closed become pending orders until they are executed when the stock market re-opens. If you have used a good for the day/week trade option, they will also show as pending until the stock reaches the value of the stock expected.

  • When do pending trades get executed? Is there any delay in execution of orders?
It takes atmost 10 minutes for the trades to get executed due to delay in price feed. But, all calculations are based on the price at the time when your order was placed. For example, if you placed an order at, say 10 am, this order will be executed at the price that was available for the particular stock at 10 am.

  • My buying/selling order is not getting placed.
Please check for the following, if:
     - You have selected the right game that you want to play
     - The volume you want to trade is NOT more than 1/3rd of the total volume in the market
     - You have considered the 0.25% brokerage that will be leavied on the order placed
     - You have sufficient balance to place the buy order
     - You have any pending orders that has reserved your cash balance
     - You are trying to trade penny stocks. According to the new rules, stocks priced below a certain amount, say for e.g. Rs. 10, cannot be traded at all.
     - You are not able to short sale, click here

So, make sure that these conditions are checked while placing your order. If you are still facing any problem, please notify us through MP Chat or mail us at customercare@moneypot.in.
